Student Pastor 29 Apr

CrossHaven Church is a Southern Baptist Church of 200-250 people in O’Fallon, MO. Our church is 11 years old and we have a need for a student pastor.

The students meet on Sunday nights (6:00-7:30 pm). (There’s a chance that our student ministry could shift to mid-week.) The student pastor would need to be present for our Sunday morning services. We also have monthly staff meetings (usually on a Monday night). We want the student pastor to be an active member in our church, not just someone who shows up once/week. Someone who will get to know people and build awareness and credibility for himself and the student ministry within the church as a whole.

We are looking for a student pastor who isn’t afraid to have some fun. Okay. Maybe it’s a little stronger than that. Having fun is a requirement! Boring candidates need not apply. Have you ever been to a lame, boring youth group? Yikes. That’s not what we hope to be.

We want someone who can:
- Create a fun environment
- Engage the students relationally
- Find the kid sitting by the wall all by himself and make him feel cared for
- “Work the crowd” at church on Sunday mornings to make sure any/all students are invited to join us on Sunday nights…and meet the parents too! You ought to work the crowd like a vacuum cleaner salesman! If he believes more in his product than you do, there’s a problem.
- Have enough awareness to realize that students “don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” In other words, you don’t expect them to be impressed with your Bible study if you haven’t taken the time to invest in them personally. We can’t compete with the entertainment of Hollywood, but we can love students better than anyone else. And whoever loves them best wins their hearts.
- Challenge the students spiritually. Make an impression “before the concrete sets.” They are still moldable. They’ll actually do what you tell them to do! No kidding! If you do it right, you can get the kids more on fire for Jesus than their parents are!
- Know how to work with a team of volunteers. Don’t expect them to follow you if you can’t motivate and inspire them. But if you do that, they’ll follow you anywhere.
- Have a personality. Don’t be afraid to show it. Don’t just show up with your Bible. Bring a squirt gun or something, man! These are teenagers, not little seminary students.
- Be ready to build upon a group of 15-20 regular students and see them grow into what God wants them to be.
- Be willing to take direction and to fit into the vision and philosophy of our church.

Qualifications: We don’t want someone who just wants a job. We want someone who is driven to excel, someone who wants to build a ministry as a labor of love, something they would be proud of. We want someone who wants to not just pick up a paycheck but someone who wants to bring students to Jesus, develop their relationship with Him, and send them out to impact the world.

Sound like something you would be interested in? Send us your resume! This is an opportunity just waiting for the right leader to come along. If you think if could be you, we’d love to hear from you!

Hours: 10-15 hours/week
Pay: $500-$1000/month

Female Associate Director of Student Ministries 7 Mar

The mission of Greentree Community Church is to know Jesus Christ and to serve Him in joyful obedience by growing disciples, planting churches, and renewing communities. The expectation of the Associate Director of Student Ministries (A.D.) is to work alongside the Pastor of Student Ministries toward fulfilling this mission in the lives of students and their families in the Kirkwood community by building meaningful relationships and being actively engaged in the Kirkwood community.

BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS
The A.D. will build relationships with the students in our church and community and also facilitate the development of healthy friendships within the community of students. The A.D. will nurture a culture that allows students to grow closer to Jesus Christ, to each other, to their families, and to other adults in the church.

Growing closer to Christ – A.D. will provide biblically based leadership to the students at Greentree with the purpose of building disciples of Jesus who are equipped to love and serve their friends with the Gospel of Christ. There are teaching components within our discipleship programs that require Biblical teaching from the A.D. and other volunteer leaders such as Sunday school and small groups.

Growing closer to each other – A.D. will lead and facilitate a system of community groups and various programs designed to provide the students at Greentree with godly friendships.

Growing closer to their families – A.D. will strive to promote the importance of the family’s influence in the student’s walk with Christ by inviting families to be active in Greentree Student Ministries.

Growing closer to other adults in the church – A.D. will help lead and develop volunteers in our congregation to effectively impact the students within their spheres of influence. The A.D. and the Pastor of Student Ministries will work together to cultivate and equip the volunteer leaders to serve in the ministry in small groups, Sunday school teaching, and/or special events and trips.

Growing closer to the Body of Christ in the Church – A.D. will encourage students to partake in service and participation within the Body of Christ. Integrating students into the big picture of the church allows them to recognize their value as a member of the Body, encourages them to develop a heart and ministry within the church, and unites students closer together through shared experiences of service within the Greentree spiritual family.

BEING ACTIVELY ENGAGED
The A.D. will be actively engaged in our community for the purpose of making Christ known. With this end in mind, the A.D. will be intentional about being involved in and caring for the Kirkwood community by seeking out new relationships with local students and families as well as serving the local schools.

Seeking out new relationships – A.D. will take time to meet new students in our local schools and seek to be a positive, Godly influence in their lives and in the lives of their families.

Serve the local schools – A.D. will be actively involved in the Kirkwood school district, thus being in the position to be known by students and their families.
