Technology Support Coordinator 21 Sep

Primary Responsibilities:

First-responder to “help desk” requests, acting as link between end users and higher level support.

Specific Duties:

HiSET Tutor 20 Sep

The HiSET Tutor will have two main duties: to help to prepare adults for taking the High School Equivalency test and to tutor high school and middle school students who come in seeking help with homework. Preparing adults for the HiSET Exam will entail identifying where their capabilities in different subjects are and providing individualized guidance to help them succeed in the test. Tutoring students will require general proficiency in at least English, Math, and Science, and working with them to help them understand not only the specific problems, but the concepts behind the problems which they’re struggling with. In the future, this position will also entail training and supervising volunteer tutors.
Specific duties for the job:
• Use TABE testing to assess students’ competency in different subjects
• Teach students, both adult and teen, strategies for dealing with understanding concepts in addition to helping them through specific problems.
• Provide feedback to students’ work and engage with them at an individual level.
• Give presentations to groups of students as needed
• Train and supervise volunteer tutors as the program grows
• Measure advances in student learning and record them
• Identify different self-help resources, and guide people to them in our computer lab

Qualifications: Our ideal candidate is a retired teacher, or someone with substantial classroom experience, although this is not required. The candidate will have to prove general competency in academic subjects, and should be familiar with state requirements. The candidate will be comfortable working with students in groups and individually, will be patient and seek to understand the root of students’ challenges so that they can make more effective interventions in that students’ learning. A teaching certificate or bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred, and at least 3 years of experience is required.
Hours: The position will be part time (approximately 15 hours a week), with most hours in the evening or on the weekend. The salary will match experience.

Seminary Receptionist

• Develop one new character study curriculum annually for the coaches to use with their teams during the winter practices.
