General Information – Please Read

These are housing opportunities in the surrounding community that have been made known to the housing office at Covenant Seminary. If one of these works out for you, please let us know so that we may remove it from the list. You can contact the housing office by emailing housing@covenantseminary.edu or by visiting the One-Stop office on the second floor of Founders Hall.

Covenant Seminary provides this board for the community to post housing opportunities of potential interest to the student body. This list is also made available to those outside the Seminary community. In using this board students, landlords, and any other parties absolve the Seminary from responsibility for any unmet expectations and understand that the Seminary does not endorse the rental property nor the student applicant. Each party is responsible for their own due diligence. Although the Seminary performs some basic due diligence for every ad posted, it is recommended that under no circumstances a renter rents a property that has not been personally toured. The Seminary also recommends that in shared-living/roommate situations, a previous tenant/roommate reference is provided to the potential renter.

To keep this page current, ads are usually removed after 60 days. Also, the housing office may make certain revisions to your ad in order to comply with Fair Housing guidelines.

One Bedroom- Bevo Neighborhood 28 Aug

One bedroom duplex unit available, in the Bevo neighborhood of S. St. Louis, near the intersection of Chippewa and Ridgewood.

This is a very clean and well-maintained rental unit. It is all on first floor, no neighbors above or below. Ideal for a single or a couple. Over the years many seminary students have resided here.

Four rooms total – kitchen, living room, dining room, and bedroom with one bathroom. Ceramic tile in kitchen and bathroom, hardwood flooring in living room and dining room. Bedroom is carpeted – with large closet and linen storage. All appliances furnished. New gas range – just replaced previous, refrigerator, and washer and dryer. These are full size laundry machines – newer, and not stackable units.

The basement is clean, well-lighted and privately accessed – not shared with other units. Total square footage in the apartment is about 1300 – including basement. Central air conditioning and forced air gas heat.

There is a raised garden bed in the rear fenced yard – to grow your own vegetables. This place is close to public transportation, and many services. Grocery store, pharmacy, post office and many restaurants are within walking distance.

No need to worry about lawncare or snow removal – that is taken care of by owner.

The monthly lease rate is $600 – or $625 with one dog or cat. The security deposit is $700 and the new tenants cover the cost of the occupancy permit – $90. A minimum of $1390 will get you moved in. The cost of water, sewer and trash are covered in the monthly rate. Will not rent to smokers.

2 Bedroom- South City 24 Jul

This house was our home for 6 years, but then we were called to a ministry job in another location. We were not able to sell the home because of the housing market crash, and so we rented it out to a friend. This renter now has to leave, unexpectedly, to move home to care for aging and very sick parents. This leaves us in urgent need to find renters for the home, as we still are not able to sell it due to the current housing market.

Income and Housing Opportunity 6 Jul

Situation #1
I am seeking a night time caregiver to assist me from 11p-7a. I am a male with a spinal cord injury, and as such, I need an individual that would be available should I need something at night. It is permissable and, indeed, expected that you would sleep during these times. Compensation can be discussed. Frequency is based upon the need of my current roommate to be away. Those willing to assist me in such a manner would have a foot in the door for Situation #2.

Situation #2
I will provide free housing plus a monthly stipend of $600 to a Covenant Theological Seminary student in a University City, MO apartment in exchange for being a roommate. I am a male with a spinal cord injury, and as such, I need a roommate that would be available should I need something at night.
This opportunity could add up to a $1,100 per month, or more, of compensation depending upon your future rent cost per month. This apartment is very near the U City Loop. Within a very short walking distance are the post office, U City library, Washington University, a farmer’s market, grocery store and dozens of restaurants.
This opportunity may begin as early as July of 2015. If you need flexibility on a switch over date, such as regarding existing housing rental contracts, let me know, and we can discuss the situation.

The requirement of this opportunity is that a roommate sleep in a separate area but be available if I would need something, which is infrequent. The so-called “shift” times of responsibility are from 11p-7a. I have been blessed with other seminary students in the past, and there is ample time to get to class at Covenant.
I am seeking a year long commitment, which could be longer if desired.
